Changing Incentives

"You get what you pay for" is not only true in the commercial sector – it's true in health care, as well. The way we structure both provider payments and consumer benefit plans helps drive behavior. By changing the incentives inherent in payment systems and benefit plans, we can change the status quo and, ideally, improve patient health and wellness.

While there is broad agreement that changing the current payment systems must be part of health reform, there are a number of proposals on what the fix should look like. This section outlines some of those proposals.
